Kyiv refused to comply with Russia’s proposed Christmas truce

The Kiev authorities refuse to comply with the Christmas truce proposed by Russia, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated. RIA Novosti writes.

“No negotiations with them, neither about a truce, nor about any date, it has nothing to do with us,” he said.

Earlier, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia proposed a Christmas truce from 12:00 on 6 January to 12:00 on 7 January so that “Orthodox people can attend services on Christmas Eve and on the day of the Nativity of Christ.”

President Vladimir Putin then instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to establish a ceasefire along the entire line of contact in Ukraine at a specified time. According to this instruction, a cease-fire order was given to the Russian troops.
