The question of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future should be asked to the negotiating parties, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview to RIA Novosti, answering a journalist’s question whether Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign a peace treaty in the coming months and whether the Nagorno-Karabakh status will be fixed there.
“It is more logical to address this question to the negotiating parties, that is, Baku and Yerevan. It is they who define the dynamics of contacts and determine the content of the future peace treaty.
Russia, which has strategic partnership and alliance relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, provides all possible support to this process in the form and scope that our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends are interested in,” Lavrov said.
