Russian President Vladimir Putin has made changes to the regulations on the procedure for military service.
According to the decree published on Monday, Russian citizens who also have foreign citizenship or a residence permit abroad will be drafted into the armed forces of the Russian Federation, TASS reports.
Previously, only Russian citizens could be drafted into the army.
According to the new version of the document, conscription service is carried out by soldiers, sailors, sergeants who are considered citizens of the Russian Federation, including those who have citizenship of a foreign state or residence status or other document confirming the right of permanent residence of a citizen in the territory of a foreign state.
