On 25 April, at 5:45 pm, a report was received that a two-year-old child had fallen into the Debed River in the city of Alaverdi. The mother of the child told the operative group of the Tumanyan Police Department that due to being out of control, the child who as sitting on a gas pipe stretching near the railway bridge in the Piruzyan district of Alaverdi city fell into the water.

The Police informed.

A young man from Alaverdi, participating in the search and rescue operations carried out by the Tumanyan Police Department and Rescue Service, found the drowned unconscious child about 1 km away from the scene, on the left bank of the Debed River. The child was immediately taken to hospital. According to preliminary information, her life is not in danger.

During the preparation of the materials, as a result of operative-investigative measures taken by the officers of the Tumanyan department, some circumstances of the incident were found out. The child’s mother was brought to Tumanyan’s department from Debed district of Alaverdi on suspicion of attempted murder. She reported that having the aim to kill the child illegally, she threw her young daughter into the Debed River from a height of 3-4 meters in the mentioned place.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Tumanyan Police Department on the grounds of Article 34-104 of the RA Criminal Code (Attempt to commit Murder).

The 30-year-old woman was arrested.

An investigation is underway.
