The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent has decided to alloacte additional forces from the peacekeepers’ reserves to block the further advance of the Azerbaijani troops. The official telegram channel of Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno Karabakh reported.
“Currently, the settlement is under the control of Russian peacekeepers. There is peace, where we are” the statement said.
It should be reminded that on 24 March, Azerbaijan, in gross violation of the provisions of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, invaded the Parukh community of the Askeran region of Artsakh and advanced to the Karagalukh section with a dominant position. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Azeris had retreated, but the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that the enemy remained in the same area.
The Artsakh Information Headquarters later reported the following:
“The village of Parukh of the Askeran region is now under the control of the Russian peacekeeping troops.
Due to the courageous efforts of the Artsakh Armed Forces, the Armenian side managed to suspend the advance of the subdivisions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and to maintain control over the main part of Karaglukh height.
Azerbaijani troops continue to remain in fortified positions of one slope of Karaglukh.
Works with the command staff of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to make the Azerbaijani units return to their starting positions are ongoing.” the statement said.
