More than 100 Ukrainian military and foreign mercenaries have been killed in a Russian precision strike on a training center for Ukrainian special operations forces in the Zhytomyr region. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters today, on 20 March, TASS news agency reports.
“High-precision air-launched missiles hit a training center for special operations forces of the Ukrainian armed forces, where foreign mercenaries who arrived in Ukraine were based, near the settlement of Ovruch, Zhytomyr region. More than 100 servicemen of special operations forces and foreign mercenaries were killed,” Konashenkov said.
It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.
The United States and the European Union have described Russia’s move as a direct aggression by Russia against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Verkhovna Rada has declared martial law in Ukraine.
