Russia has bypassed Iran and North Korea, becoming the country against which many countries around the world have imposed sanctions due to its invasion of Ukraine. European Pravda reported.
Russia has been the target of 2,778 new sanctions since 22 February. The total number of sanctions has reached more than 5,530.
This figure surpassed that of Iran, which had 3,616 sanctions in a decade, mainly for supporting its nuclear program – terrorism.
The pressure on Russia is increasing almost every day. Over the weekend, American Express Co և Netflix Inc. joined the growing list of companies leaving Russia or leaving the business.
Some are said to do so because of their sanctions obligations, but others impose their sanctions, in essence, by choosing to leave, even if they are not required by law to do so.
Putin said at the weekend that the imposition of sanctions “seemed like a declaration of war”.
The American media reported on Monday that the Biden administration is ready to ban the import of Russian oil to the United States.
Germany, the largest buyer of Russian crude oil, has rejected plans to ban energy imports.
