Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that fierce battles are taking place near the capital, in particular, Russian troops are destroying the cities of Kiev region – Bucha, Gostomel, Vorzel, Irpin and killing civilians.
“Fierce battles are going on near Kiev. The enemy destroys Bucha, Gostomel, Vorzel, Irpin with special fury. They deliberately kill civilians. Gostomel community chairman Yuri Prilipko died while distributing bread and medicine to people. This is my partner, whom I know well from the Association of Cities within the framework of our cooperation,” Klitschko said in a video message posted on the Telegram channel.
Klitschko also noted that the capital sends humanitarian aid to other Ukrainian cities.
“Kiev sent humanitarian aid to Chernigov. We try to deliver it to Bucha and Gostomel. We provide humanitarian supplies to several other cities. The capital is preparing for defense. I ask all the women to stay calm! “Stay at home or in case of an alarm in the shelters. Kiev will stand, we will confront together, glory to Ukraine,” he said.
It should be reminded that in the early morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a message announcing the decision to launch a special military operation in Donbas.
“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action. The Donbass People’s Republics have appealed to Russia. I have decided to launch a special military operation in this regard,” Putin said in a televised address to Russian citizens.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that from 5:00 am (7:00 am Yerevan time) on Thursday, the Russian Armed Forces carried out intensive attacks on Ukrainian military facilities and airports.
The Verkhovna Rada has declared martial law in Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announces the preliminary number of victims and wounded.
