The issue of electing the RA President is being discussed in the National Assembly. The “Civil Contract” Faction has nominated Vahagn Khachaturyan. Opposition factions did not nominate a candidate.

Khachaturyan mentioned that the last time he spoke from this tribune was in 1999, but then the National Assembly did not play as big a role in governing the state as now. He expressed hope that the Parliament will fulfill its historical mission and will have a great participation in getting everyone out of this difficult situation.

“I sincerely want to thank the deputies of the “Civil Contract” Faction for such confidence. My age may have been such that I should not have experienced such exciting moments, but believe me, it was very exciting for me, they feel that I have received such an honor. I hope that we will realize the ideas about the future of the Republic of Armenia, because we are called for that. We simply have no other way,” Khachaturyan said.
