Russian airborne forces established full control over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant yesterday. the RF Ministry of Defense informs, RIA Novosti reports.
“An agreement has been reached with the servicemen of the Defense Battalion of the Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant on the joint security of the power units and sarcophagus. The radioactive background is normal. The NPP staff continues to service the facilities in a normal mode, to control the radioactive situation,” the statement reads.
It is mentioned that 82 Ukrainian soldiers laid down their weapons and surrendered in the area of Snake Island (Odessa region), they are asked to sign a document by which the latter refuse to take part in the battles.
Another 11 servicemen of the 53rd Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade have been handed over in the Nikolaev region. One of the units of the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian Marine Corps requested a corridor to enter the Donbas, after which they will be able to return to their families.
The Russian Defense Ministry reports that during the hostilities, more than 150 servicemen of various Ukrainian security forces laid down their arms and surrendered.
During the military operation, the Russian armed forces attacked 118 military facilities of Ukraine’s military infrastructure, including 11 military airports, 13 command post and communication centers, 14 S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and 36 radar stations.
It is reported that 5 fighter planes, 1 helicopter, 5 drones were hit, 18 tanks, other combat armored vehicles, 7 multiple missile systems, 5 warships were destroyed.
