Russia’s recognition of the DPR and LPR is unacceptable; Ankara calls on the parties to remain reasonable. The statement came from Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan, RIA Novosti reported.
“We consider the decision unacceptable (Russia’s recognition of Donetsk-Lugansk independence – ed.). We call on the parties to uphold common sense and international law,” he said.
It should be noted that the situation in Donbas has worsened in recent days, the DPR and LPR has announced numerous shellings by the Ukrainian security forces.
Yesterday, on 21 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree in the Kremlin recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR. In his decrees, Putin instructed the armed forces of the Russian Federation to ensure peace in these areas.
