The ball was fatal for my son, first the soccer ball and then the enemy’s bullet: Eduard Marabyan’s mother about her son

“He played as a defender in football. And so he remained as the defender of friends on the battlefield until the end. The ball was fatal for my son, first the soccer ball and then the a Turkish one,” Srbuhi Mnatsakanyan, the mother of Eduard Marabyan, who died in the war unleashed by Azerbaijan on 27 September, 2020 said.

According to the mother, all the boy’s dreams were related to football.

He was a tanker in the army.

“The military oath took place in the Amaras Monastery Complex, it seemed to me that nothing would happen to my son. Then he was taken to Varanda and told that he would be a tank driver-mechanic. They were not going to the positions,” the mother says.

When the enemy captured Varanda’s military unit, Eduard and his comrades were surrounded. His parents learned about it after his death.

“He was in hot battles for 35 days. The last time I spoke was on 30 October. He was upset, he said, ‘Mom, they told us to call to our parents, but I have nothing to say.’ I understood from his voice that they were taken to a dangerous place. He was shot by an enemy sniper. The boys saw that he was wounded. They called and informed that Marabyan was wounded. When the ambulance approached, the Turks were in the trench. They could not get my son out,” the mother told.

Eduard Marabyan was born on 28 February. He died in the battles for the defense of the homeland on 31 October, 2020.
