RIA Novosti reports that the “Omicron” strain of coronavirus disease may be more dangerous for children because they have a higher respiratory rate than adults, which makes them more susceptible to airborne viruses.
“Children’s airways are narrower than those of adults. This new strain mainly affects the upper respiratory tract of infected patients. Therefore, it can be said that children are more likely to have more problems than adults, which is worrying.” Animesh Arya, Senior Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute in New Delhi said.
The scientist noted that the symptoms of infection with “Omicron” strain in children are sore throat, mild fever and fatigue.
