Banditry attack in “Yerevan Mall” shopping center: the man stole 102,000,000 drams: Investigative Committee

On 31 August, 2021, at around 10:18 am, a person who allegedely committed a crime, with the intention of stealing a particularly large amount of property, entered a branch of one of the Armenian banks located in the “Yerevan Mall” shopping center on Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan. He demanded money from an employee of the same branch threatening the latter with a 9 mm gas pistol “BLOW MAGNUM” used as a weapon, threatening to use dangerous violence, and stole a particularly large amount of 102,000,000 AMD and fled. In order to avoid being persecuted by the security officers, he fired once in the same shopping center and while leaving the area of ​​the shopping center he was neutralized and taken to the Shengavit Police Department.

The Investigative Committee reported.

A criminal case has been initiated in the investigation department of the Shengavit administrative district of the Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee in accordance with Article 175, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

The perpetrator of the crime was arrested.

More than a dozen people were interrogated, complex forensic-chemical, forensic ballistic and forensic medical examinations were appointed, and video recordings of video cameras were confiscated.

The investigation is underway.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
