Gagik Jhanagryan, the acting chairman of the SJC, said during a press conference on 2 August:
“The judicial system must be purified, I do not change my opinion, I never change whatever I say. Judges who have violated justice, who have imprisoned innocent citizens for months and years, these people are not suitable for this judicial system.
The cleansing mechanisms are different, but we must get rid of them. Widespread cleansing may take place after the adoption of the bill, but whatever must be done, it must be done.
As for the fact that I rule, I want to rule, you evaluate. If I rule, how do I rule with these narrow powers? Teach me to do that too, I will gladly imitate how they rule with these narrow powers of this acting Chairman of the SJC or a member of the SJC. It will be interesting for me, I will study with great pleasure.”
