It should be reminded that the agenda of the special session included the draft amendments to the Law on the State Border, as well as the controversial draft amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code as well.
The first draft proposes to ban the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, video surveillance of the territory of the neighboring state, engineering structures and blockades in the border area, buildings, structures, watchtowers, vehicles used by the border troops.
A fine of 1 million drams will be imposed for violating the rules at the border.
The draft of the Criminal Code proposes to define who the “representatives of the government” are and what responsibility will be envisaged for using swearword against them.
Thus, insulting or slandering a person in public service in connection with his/her performance of official duties will be punished with a fine in the amount from 100 to 500 thousand drams.
At the same time, part 2 of the mentioned article of the draft proposes to stipulate that the act provided for in the first part of the article, which was committed through mass media or other public means related to his/her performance of official duties, will be punished with a fine from 500 thousand to 3 million drams, or imprisonment for a maximum of two years.
The second reading of the drafts is planned to be held today.
