On 10 July, 2021, at around 02:00 am, on the 14th km of the Yeraskh-Yerevan highway, a contract soldier of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense collided with an “Opel Astra” car which he was driving, into another car “UAZ Patriot” on the balance of another military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, and as a result the UAZ car overturned.
The Investigative Committee informed.
As a result of the car accident, six contract soldiers were hospitalized with bodily injuries, one of whom died on the way to the hospital.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Eighth Garrison Investigation Division of the Military Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee under Article 242, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code. The driver of the “Opel Astra” car was arrested on suspicion of violating the requirements for road safety, traffic or vehicle operation rules.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
Measures are taken to find out all the circumstances of the accident, to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation.
Note: A person suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
