A complaint has been submitted to the court regarding the legality of the arrest of Ruben Khlghatyan, former mayor of Armavir, parliamentary candidate of the “I have Honor” Bloc. His lawyer Gayane Papoyan informed Iravaban.net about this.
According to her, Khlghatyan is now in the detention center of Vagharshapat.
“He has been arrested under Article 154․2 of the Criminal Code (giving bribe, bribing voters, violating the ban on charity during elections or obstructing the exercise of the voter’s free will). Now we are waiting for the appointment of a court session on the complaint,” Papoyan said.
It should be reminded that in June 2018, Ruben Khlghatyan resigned from the post of mayor.
He was elected mayor of Armavir in 2004, later re-elected, before that he held the position of deputy mayor.
Khlghatyan is number 16 on the “I have honor” list.
