As we have already informed, today, on 2 June, a murder with a firearm took place in the center of Yerevan, on Abovyan Street, in front of “Moscow” Cinema.

Iravaban.net’s journalist reported from the scene that a large number of police officers, criminologists, and later forensic doctors arrived and examined the body. The body was then taken by ambulance.

It should be mentioned that there were two cars with Russian license plates at the scene. The police have started examining the cameras of the adjacent areas.

According to media reports, this murder is connected with another murder which occurred in Etchmiadzin a few days ago, on 31 May, when Arthur Asatryan’s (“Don Pipo”) brother was murdered

Asatryan’s lawyer Gegham Hakobyan told lawyer, Iravaban.net that Arthur Asatryan was not with his brother when the incident took place.

Notably, on 31 May, 2021, at around 6:00 pm, the Vagharshapat Department of the RA Police received a call from the Ambulance Department of Vagharshapat Hospital that the body of a man with gunshot wounds had been found on the Margara-Zvartnots highway in Armavir region.

On the same day, at 6:30 pm, the Vagharshapat Department of the RA Police received a report from the fire service that a Mitsubishi Pajero IO car was burning in the fields near the Zvartnots district of Echmiadzin, in which 13 bullet case of 5.45-caliber, one bullet and an “AKSU” rifle with empty spare box were found.

The undertaken measures revealed that on the same day, the person who allegedly committed the crime, on the Margara-Zvartnots highway in Armavir region, 400 meters from the Yerevan-Echmiadzin bridge, fired shots at a Lexus 570 car from the Mitsubishi Pajero IO car with the intention to kill illegally. Further, the Mitsubishi Pajero IO carwas taken to the fields near the Zvartnots district of Etchmiadzin, and burned. The driver of the “Lexus 570” car, Armen Asatryan, died as a result of the shooting.
