Speaking live on Public TV, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, referring to the situation at the border, said that the Armenian authorities had chosen to resolve the issue through diplomatic and political means.

The Secretary of the Security Council noted that according to the maps of Armenia and Russia, all those territories are ours․ “Let’s start working on the issue of clarifying the borders, at the same time it is in our interests that the border are clarified through existing maps, negotiations, we see the solution of this issue in three dimensions: Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan.”

Regarding Syunik region, Armen Grigoryan mentioned that the agreement was made for Azerbaijan to withdraw, but that agreement has not been fully implemented so far.

“It is a very important, principled position for us that Azerbaijan should return to the starting point. Azerbaijan has withdrawn some troops, but we do not consider the issue settled,” he said, noting that if they do not return, Armenia will have to use other tools, we will involve our allies.

Armen Grigoryan also mentioned that with these actions Azerbaijan shows that it is dissatisfied with the statement of 9 November, 2020.

“Azerbaijan has tried to sow in our society that it has won. If he won, how he got the armies of two more states in its internationally recognized territories, I would not consider it a victory.

In fact, with these steps, this provocation, Azerbaijan shows that it is not so satisfied with the 9 November statement. If it was satisfied, it would not introduce additional things, such as Zangezur or other issues. It definitely shows that the statement of 9 November ․․․ Of course, they tried to instill in us the idea that Azerbaijan was completely victorious, but in my estimation, Azerbaijan found itself in a much more difficult situation, because at least through negotiations it could have achieved different results, but it chose the military path.”
