During the question-and-answer session with the deputies at the special sitting of the National Assembly, the acting Prime Minister, candidate for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, answering the question of the independent deputy Arman Babajanyan related to the judicial system, said:
“I did not say that our judicial system is perfect. I said something completely different. I said that profound changes have taken place, whose beneficiaries are people, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. As far as I know, there are people arrested who invaded the Government, there is a person arrested from the citizens who attacked the Speaker of the National Assembly. But there is a need to improve the quality of the investigation. Yes, there are cases that receive public attention, but the whole judicial process is not only those cases. I make a very important record; I say that innocent people do not end up in prison today. Yes, it is possible that there are people who should be in prison, but are free, but innocent people do not end up in prison, I consider it a great achievement. I do not think that what I said should be taken as if our judicial system has reached perfection. Let me insist that I have come to believe that we are on the right path.”
