The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Italy highlighted the importance of protecting the cultural heritage in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

On March 3, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian had a phone conversation with Luigi Di Maio, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy. The RA MFA reports.

“Following the previous phone conversation, the Foreign Ministers discussed in detail a number of issues on bilateral agenda. Sides emphasized the mutual willingness to undertake consistent steps towards further strengthening and enriching the Armenian-Italian political dialogue.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the issues of regional security and stability. Minister Aivazian presented to his counterpart the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone resulting from the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, drawing the latter’s attention to the urgency of addressing the humanitarian issues that Armenians of Artsakh encounter.

During the phone conversation, sides touched upon the implementation of the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement. In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia stressed the priority of full implementation of the undertaken humanitarian obligations, particularly regarding the repatriation of prisoners of war and other people detained.
