At the suggestion of SJC President Ruben Vardazaryan, the Council may today consider Judge Karine Petrosyan’s application to terminate Gagik Jhangiryan’s powers.

The application is based on the fact that Gagik Jhangiryan, a scholars-members of the SJC, has reached the age of 65, which, according to Karine Petrosyan, is prohibited by the Judicial Code.

Jhangiryan had earlier referred to the issue, explaining that the law’s prohibition applies only to lawyer-members; the law does not provide restrictions for scholars-members.
