“During the signing of the statement on Nagorno Karabakh, Russia acted only as a mediator, assuming the obligations of peaceful separation of the parties,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“Russia acted only as a mediator, and with that document it assumed the responsibilities of carrying out the peaceful division of the parties. What we are doing now,” Putin said on Russia 1 TV channel.

He stressed that the authors of the statement are the three parties – Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“As for the text itself, we did it in threes: me, of course, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev! It was not possible otherwise, because, in fact, it was an agreement between the two sides,” the Russian president clarified.
