Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that he has not received an invitation from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to visit Moscow to discuss the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.
“No,” the head of state said in an interview with the Japanese Nikkei newspaper, answering the reporter’s question.
Speaking about his readiness to leave for Moscow if such an invitation follows, Aliyev noted that he had visited Moscow many times at Putin’s invitation. “Sometimes I made several visits a year. Thus, this high-level contacts between the ‘neighbors’ of partner countries are ususal,” he said.
Aliyev did not exclude the possibility of a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow, at the same time noting that he has no hope of resolving the Karabakh conflict with the current Armenian government.
“This meeting is possible, as there have been similar meetings before. If there is such a meeting, it will depend on the content of the agenda,” the head of state said.
