Russian citizen, military journalist, author of the WarGonzo project Semyon Pegov reacted to the initiation of a criminal case against him by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

It should be reminded that the journalist is accused of entering Nagorno Karabakh from Armenia, which Azerbaijan considers its territory. All those who enter the territory of Nagorno Karabakh without informing Azerbaijan are recognized by official Baku as “persona non grata” (undesirable person) and appear in the “list”. They face criminal prosecution in Azerbaijan.

A criminal case has been filed against Pegov under the articles “Public calls for terrorism”, “Public calls against the state” and “Illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

Pegov notes that his position on this issue is very clear: “They are initiating, let them initiate. In Ukraine, a case has been initiated under the same article. Can I say something about spreading hate speech about me? If they have something to say, let them come to Hadrut, we will talk.”

The journalist also referred to the situation in Hadrut. He noted that the subversive group was pushed back by the Artsakh Defense Army, but new forces regularly come to the help the saboteurs.

“The Artsakh Defense Army is in its place, there has been no retreat. After Ali’s statement that Hadrut had been captured, I went there three times,” he said, adding that the attack was only to save Aloyev’s image.
