More than 300 Syrian Islamists taken to Karabakh conflict zone through Turkey: Macron

More than 300 Syrian Islamists were taken to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone via Turkish Ayntap, France confirms this is a proven fact, and Russia has that information. The statement came from French President Emmanuel Macron during a briefing on the first day of the EU summit on Friday, TASS reports.

“I can say that more than 300 Syrian Islamist militants, who had previously been taken out from the Aleppo region, were transferred to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone via Turkish Ayntap (to take part in hostilities by Azerbaijan, which is supported by Turkey,” TASS reported). It is confirmed, these people are identified, and they are all connected with the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS, banned in Russia). “I discussed it with President Vladimir Putin, who confirmed that Russia also has that information,” Macron said.

“Turkey’s behavior is not appropriate for a NATO member state. We consider such actions completely unacceptable. In this case, the red line has already been crossed,” he stressed.

“Russia, the United States and France, as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, will take a number of initiatives in the very near future to end the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. We are in close working contact,” he said.
