UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on Yerevan and Baku to immediately end hostilities, reduce tensions and return to talks, according to the official representative of the Secretary General of the organization Stefan Dujarric.
“The Secretary General is extremely concerned about the resumption of hostilities along the entire line of contact in the Karabakh conflict zone. He condemns the use of force, regrets the loss of life and the civilian casualties,” the statement said.
“The Secretary-General calls on the parties to immediately cease hostilities, reduce tensions and return to constructive talks immediately,” Dujarric said.
Antonio Guterres will contact Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in connection with the recent escalation in the conflict zone.
