The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the case of poisoning of Armavir city residents continues in the Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee.

The Investigative Committee reports.

It turned out that a number of residents of the city of Armavir had acquired an alcoholic beverage of unknown origin, which did not meet the requirements of consumers’ life and health, after which they were poisoned. 7 people died, 3 people are in serious condition.

As a result of the measures taken, Ashot Lendrush Hovsepyan, born in 1970, a resident of Armavir, was arrested on suspicion of selling goods that did not meet safety requirements.

Operative measures are being taken to find the “30 liters of alcohol” purchased by the citizens, as well as to find out the identities of all the buyers.

We urge all the citizens who bought alcohol from the above-mentioned person not to use it – apply to the Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.

The Health Ministry informs that at the moment, according to preliminary data, there are 11 deaths form “alcohol intoxication”.

Notably, a criminal case has already been inquired into the incident.
