The Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee is conducting an investigation to find out all the circumstances of the poisoning of 5 residents of Armavir city.

On 31 August, 2020, a report was received from “Armavir MC” CJSC that 5 residents of Lermontov, Shiraz and Baghramyan streets of Armavir city, were taken to hospital by ambulance with a diagnosis of “alcohol poisoning”.

The Investigative Committee reported.

It turned out that they had acquired an alcoholic beverage of unknown origin, which did not meet the health and safety requirements of consumers, after which they were poisoned. Two of the five people who sought medical help died at the hospital without regaining consciousness.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee in accordance with Article 279, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (issuing or selling goods that do not meet safety requirements, performing works or providing services).

During the preliminary investigation, a number of investigative actions were carried out: on-site inspections, containers were found, containers filled with alcohol-like liquid were confiscated. According to the participants, the poisoned people used the mentioned liquid.

Investigative-judicial actions are carried out in order to find out all the circumstances of the case, to ensure an objective, complete and comprehensive investigation.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
