It would be more dignified for Hrayr Tovmasyan not to continue holding office at the Constitutional Court: Lusine Hakobyan

It would be more dignified for the former chairman of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan not to continue holding office at the Constitutional Court, even as a judge.

Ms Lusine Hakobyan, the President of the “Europe in Law Association” NGO, said this in a conversation with Iravaban.net .

“Hrayr Tovmasyan, together with the retired members of the Constitutional Court, applied to the European Court of Human Rights asking to suspend the actions of the Constitution, which in essence means violating the oath given by the judge himself, because the judge swears to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution, and in this case he together with others, appealed to the regional court, demanding that that court suspend the operation of our Constitution. I think that taking into account the fact of submitting an intermediate measure to the ECHR, and the fact with what request Hrayr Tovmasyan applied to the ECHR, I think it would be more dignified for him not to continue holding office, even as a judge,” Lusine Hakobyan said.

According to her, the former members of the Constitutional Court actually confused the public, as it was presented in such a way that the main application was submitted to the ECHR, although, in the opinion of the specialist, it will not succeed.
