“I can confirm once again: This is a fabricated case.” Gagik Tsarukyan announced about this leaving the court building.

His lawyer Yerem Sargsyan told reporters that they had submitted a motion to the judge to withdraw.
“We consider that the order of these assignment is connected with the pre-trial proceedings, which take place in the Republic of Armenia, that is, the president of the court chooses at his own will the choice of the judge’s assignment. We believe that this procedure initially violates the right to a fair trial because it does not guarantee that the principle is that the choice of a judge should be random, that the state, in this case the president of the court, decides the judge of his choice,” the attorney said.
Notably, the examination of the motion on choosing detention as a precautionary measure against Gagik Tsarukyan, a deputy of the National Assembly, continues at the Shengavit residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan.
The sitting is chaired by Judge Robert Papoyan.
Now the court has left to the deliberation room to make a decision on the motion on self-withdrawal. Yerem Sargsyan said that most likely, the decision will be published in 2-3 hours.
It should be added that yesterday, 17 June, the investigation of the motion for arrest began, but later Yerem Sargsyan, one of Gagik Tsarukyan’s defenders, announced that he had just been involved as a defense attorney and the defense team asked the court for time to get acquainted with the materials.
Notably earlier the National Security Service conducted a search in the private house of NA deputy Gagik Tsarukyan.
