Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan informs.
“Yesterday I spoke about a scenario of the spread of coronavirus disease, which fortunately has not happened yet. And we must do everything we can to ensure that this never happens.
The calculations of that scenario are in the picture.
The total number of cases is 524,032, of which 26,202 are serious.
The required number of beds at the peak – 12,445.
Let me remind you that at the moment we have about 1550 separate beds, and the bed fund of the whole country is about 12,000.”
It should be reminded that yesterday, on 4 May, in the National Assembly, the Minister announced “About 2,000 citizens are in isolation. In terms of the budget, we have about 350,000 beds in the hospital system, because some citizens receive “medical care” in hotels because they have no symptoms. We call it non-invasive medical care, because in fact, if they do not receive medical care, moderate and severe cases, the citizens will be treated on a separate bed for a separate coronavirus, which may increase, but at the moment such a decision is not final. There are 6 main medical centers in Yerevan and Artashat, as well as the infectious diseases hospitals in Kapan, Vanadzor, Gyumri or separate infectious diseases departments.” He also noted that about a month ago the WHO predicted for Armenia up to 500 thousand cases of coronavirus infection, more than 10 thousand cases of hospitalization and thousands of deaths.
