Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued a statement about himself and his wife.

I have some personal news today that I would like to share with you. Sophie had just returned from an event in the UK and had symptoms of a mild illness the previous night. She is feeling better, but following the advice of our doctor, she has isolated herself as we await the results of the COVID-19 test.

In keeping with caution, I too will isolate myself before we have the results of Sophie. But I will be busy working from home. Today, I will speak with some of the world’s leaders and join Ministers for a Government Committee discussion on COVID-19.

Today, I was going to meet with other leaders later, but given the circumstances, we will postpone our meeting. At the same time, we will be talking on the phone how we can mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19 and protect Canadians.”
