On 6 February, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the arrest of the head of the RA Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan by the National Security Service.

Notably, on 5 February Vahagn Vermishyan, the head of the RA Urban Development Committee, was arrested by the National Security Service.

The NSS statement says that during a meeting on October 23, 2019, the head of the Urban Development Committee agreed to nominate an owner of several construction companies to the title of “Honored Builder of Armenia”, receiving a bribe of 5,000 US $ drams bribe equivalent to about 2,379,950 AMD  and construction materials worth to about $ 2,300,000 AMD.

Within the framework of the criminal case initiated at the RA NSS Investigation Department according to the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, the persons allegedly committed the crime were arrested, three of them, including the Chairman of the aforementioned Committee, were detained and charged. At the same time, a bribe-taking official confessed to committing the crime while being questioned as a suspect. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
