According to government decision, since 15 January, 2020, all operators of food chain must comply with the slaughterhouse origin for fresh meat. The decision has caused discontent among farmers who claim that the government made the decision without consulting specialists and providing appropriate conditions.
They have been protesting in front of the government building for the last few days, followed by interstate road closures in the provinces.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the issue during a question and answer session with the Government in the National Assembly.
He informed that today it was decided to postpone the application of mandatory requirement until July 1. By February 6, the government will develop a mobile and small slaughter support program, starting March 1. Nikol Pashinyan announced this at the National Assembly.
