Around 60 well-known Armenian and Russian Art of Cultural Figures call for the Release of Robert Kocharyan from Custody

Around 60 Armenian and Russian art and culture figures have issued a statement on Robert Kocharyan. We learned this from the Facebook page of the 2nd RA President.

The statement reads:

“President Kocharyan’s Freedom Committee has released a statement of about 60 Armenian and Russian art and culture figures calling for the release of Robert Kocharyan, the first President of the Artsakh Republic and the second President of the Republic of Armenia.

Announcement of Armenian cultural and art workers

We do not give assessments. We do not go in the legal nuances. We do not take the position of a judge. Each of us does his/her job in his/her arena. We are not a litigant.

But we are citizens, and we are concerned about the moral and psychological climate of our country. The anti-cultural atmosphere of wickedness, hatred, and hostility.

It is incomprehensible for us to keep President Kocharyan in prison during the trial. We have not heard any justification that if he is released, he will avoid justice. We are convinced on the contrary,.

We appreciate Robert Kocharyan’s contribution to the establishment of Armenian statehood. Most of us know him personally. We cannot ignore what is happening. We find that the current status of the president is unnatural and does not contribute to the credibility of the state and the recovery of the public atmosphere. We offer solidarity, a step towards the future. We propose to change the precautionary measure of President Robert Kocharyan.
