The Ministry of Justice will translate the explanatory report on the Istanbul Convention as soon as possible.
In response to the question of Iravaban.net, Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan had replied on August 1, prior to the public final discussion of the drafts of the 2019-2022 Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan.
“I have not yet spoken to our translation center to understand when they will be ready physically but in the short terms,” the minister said.
Karen Zadoyan, the former Chairman of the State Legal Committee of the Public Council, raised the issue during the PC meeting, then addressed the Council in writing, after which the Public Council issued a statement on 31 July that the former Chairman of the Council, Vazgen Manukyan, had applied to the Ministry with request to translate the explanatory report on the Istanbul Convention.
About three months have passed since August, but the translation of the report has not yet been published.
In response to Iravaban.net‘s inquiry, the Ministry of Justice said:
The translation of the Explanatory Report of the “Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence” is currently being finalized and will be available on the official website of the Ministry of Justice as soon as it is ready.
