The Court of General Jurisdiction of Malatia-Sebastia administrative districts of Yerevan (trial judge Tigran Petrosyan) is considering the criminal case brought against Stepan Hakobyan, who is charged in organizing the murdering of ex-MP Vahan Zatikyan’s son, who was a former Head of Malatia-Sebastia Community.
S. Hakobyan is accused under Point 8, Part 2 Article 38-104 (murder out of mercenary motives and combined with extortion and banditry) and Part 1 Article 235 (illegal procurement, transportation, keeping or carrying of weapons, explosives or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code.
According to the factual datum obtained during the pre-trial proceedings the accused Stepan Hakobyan, previously having controversy with S. Zatikyan, with the intent to take revenge on him, having preliminary agreement with N. Khachatryan, made A. Arushanyan materially incentive and order to kill S. Zatikyan.
According to the judgment rendered in 2007 the murderer A. Arushanyan was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. S. Hakobyan was under criminal prosecution since 2007 and was found on 14 December 2011.
Note: Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty by the court verdict lawfully entered into force as prescribed by Criminal Procedure Code.
