If a rich man dies, the entire world is moved; if a poor man dies, nobody knows it,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the 101st Anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Heads of SIS, NSS, and RA Police, MES, and Defense Ministers attended the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Day of the Prosecutor’s Officer.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association of, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia was invited to the ceremony as well.

In his speech, the Prime Minister noted that the cause of many tragic chapters of our centuries-old history was the lack of justice, which is the most powerful factor dividing the nation – when people are divided into first and second grade citizens, when the right is an instrument of elitist application. And this reality has manifested itself in many famous literary works and in folklore. For example, there are many stories on this topic. The Prime Minister also quoted the well-known story “The Poor’s Honor,” which tells how the rights of an ordinary person, a financially insecure citizen, can be violated in cases where it seemed that justice should be on the side of the citizen. It is not accidental that one of the most common proverbs in our reality is: “If a rich man dies, the entire world is moved; if a poor man dies, nobody knows it,” which means that he who has a host will be protected, while an orphan will go astray

Mr. Arthur Davtyan mentioned that one of the most important results of the last year’s crucial events was the sharp increase in the level of public intolerance towards crimes and especially corruption, injustice and the unprecedented initiative of citizens to inform the law enforcement bodies about the criminal phenomena, in particular to the prosecutor’s office. “We can confidently state that in the fight against crime we have an invaluable partner, such as an active citizen of the Republic of Armenia, who is interested in establishing the country’s future and full legality, which is incomparably more demanding and persistent towards criminal prosecution agencies in anticipation of its adequate outcome. It is not a secret that this unprecedented activity has resulted in overload of all law enforcement agencies. But it’s not a matter of mourning for us, but a stimulus for more motivation. We do not have the right to wage this waste, which seems to be a dream to come true yet,” Arthur Davtyan said.
