President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian received the delegation of the European Union observation mission headed by Heidi Hautala, who arrived in Armenia for the observation of the extraordinary parliamentary elections to be held on 9 December.
The parties spoke about Armenia-EU relations and stressed the importance of ratifying the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the European Union as soon as possible to make them more efficient and practical.
Emphasizing the crucial importance of free and fair elections for the country’s future and progress, President Sarkissian highlighted the formation of parliamentary democracy traditions and culture, the establishment of strong and vibrant democratic institutions, and a strong civil society in the country.
