On December 29, the work done within the framework of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project was summarized.
The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium of civil society organizations, which are the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (lead organization), Agora Central Europe (NGO based in the Czech Republic), the Armenian Centre for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, the International Centre for Human Development, the SME Cooperation Association and the Union of Communities of Armenia.
The heads and representatives of the implementing organizations were present at the meeting.
Project Manager, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association of Karen Zadoyan presented the main objectives of the project and the implemented activates aimed to achieve that objectives.
In particular, he noted that trainings for civil society representatives on new law “On Non-Governmental Organizations” were conducted. Free advice and support was provided to harmonize the NGO charters with the requirements of the new law.
A number of discussions on issues arising from new legislation on the associations of legal entities, voluntary institutions, the intricacies of regulations, of NGOs’ entrepreneurial activity and other have been organized. Collaboration between the project implementing organizations and the State Revenue Committee, the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Justice has been established. It is anticipated to have a more favorable legislative framework as a result of this cooperation.
A training course aimed at developing the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) representatives has been launched today, on 4 December. 15 CSO representatives from seven marzes of the RA attended the training. The training is a new educational certification program for CSO capacity development, which is held at the American University of Armenia.
A new educational certification program aimed at capacity development of CSO has been launched this year at the American University of Armenia. Already 58 CSO representatives graduated from the educational program and received certificates. It is anticipated that 120 CSO representatives will participate in the training in the scope of the project.
The educational program will continue after the completion of the Commitment to Constructive Dialogue; project as well and CSO representatives can participate in it on a paid basis.
The further work in the scope of the program was discussed at the meeting as well.
