Integrity and Non-Corrupt Practices are the Basis of Developed Economy

Good governance is one of the most important principles of success in anti-corruption struggle. Singapore is one of the best examples of it.

In the 1960s, it had an underdeveloped economy, a number of environmental issues, but as a result of good governance it has one of the world’s most developed economies today. Local state officials receive the highest salaries in the world, and they have solved environmental and other issues.

Today, trainings on anti-corruption and integrity issues where held for the groups of community and civil workers of Yerevan City.

Mr. Marat Atovmyan, the Expert of Armenian Lawyers’ Association introduced to the attention of the participants the main principles of integrity and the main conditions to achieving success in fight against corruption based on the best international practices as well.

The Armenian Government and Armenian Lawyers’ Association will conduct trainings on integrity and anti-corruption issues for 200 public servants in Yerevan City as well as in Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik and Syunik marzes.

It should be noted that as a result of cooperation with the Government, serious steps have been taken in the anti-corruption field over the past year. In particular, in the spring of last year, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and the CSO’s Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia presented a roadmap for achieving success in the anti-corruption fight, consisting of six points.

The drafted legal documents were presented and as a result of the joint work illicit enrichment was criminalized, the Whistleblowers’ Institute on Corruption Crimes was introduced, the Institute of revealing the Beneficiary Owners was introduced partially, and the Anti-Corruption Preventive Body was created.
