“Introduction of the Corruption Prevention Council and the Whistleblowers’ institute is the opportunity at this moment, which we have and can apply,” Edmon Marukyan, MP of “Yelk” faction said today at the session of the National Assembly.
According to him, there is an opinion, according to which it is possible to create a more stable and powerful anti-corruption body. However, it would have been only in the case when the citizens will unanimously vote for “Yelk” Alliance. “As a result, a comprehensive anti-corruption body would have been created, as it is written, in the program of “Yelk” Alliance. But we have the political reality, and we see that the government is ready to do this part of the step. And we can use this mechanism which is being established. I would be surprised if tomorrow I see the Republicans or the authorities applying the Commission or report corruption. Why do I say this? Because this mechanism, in fact, will be a mechanism in the hands of the opposition. This will be a mechanism for in the possession of civil society institutions,” Mr. Marukyan said. According to him, under these conditions it may develop. So they are in favor of the draft and shall use it.
