Yesterday, famous Canadian-Armenian actress Arsine Khanjyan was taken by force to a police station from the Khorenatsi street. She was taken to the Police Interior Force Unit on the Isakov Avenue, and, after being kept there for 3 hours, she was released. Iravaban.net was informed about this by Arsine Khanjyan’s lawyer Aramazd Kiviryan.
He noted that the actress was detained by the police through making a number of violations and no justification was presented.
Aramazd Kiviryan said that after hearing about the detention of Arsine Khanjyan, they tried to find out where she was being kept and, finally, when they approached the police military unit, the employee said that Arsine was not there. So they didn’t let them in.
Aramazd Kiviryan said, “When we insisted on our information being accurate and that she was there the employee said that he should check that with his supervisor. Only after that Arsine Khanjyan was released.”
In the attorney’s words, at that time rumor had it that more than 70 people were detained by the Police, and relatives of the detainees and attorneys had gathered near the entrance of the military unit. Their entrance was impeded, too.
The lawyer added that they were discussing with his client their further steps at that moment.
