The Situation on the Border is Relatively Calm: Shooting has stopped in Some Places

The ceasefire agreement was signed in 1994, and despite the fact that since then it was repeated violated, but the military activities which Azerbaijan restarted on the night of April 1 to 2, were unprecedented.

Davit Babayan, the Press Secretary of NKR President said in the interview with Iravaban.net that in recent days Azerbaijan has grossly violated the most important norms under of the Geneva Conventions and other instruments of international law.

“Gross violations include: use of force or threat, attempted genocide, targeting civilian persons and civilian objects, manifestation of ethnic intolerance, fascism, transport terrorists and mercenaries to Azerbaijan and their active involvement in war activities…,” Mr. Babayan said.

In response to our question as to whether the statements of the parties on a cease-fire are foreseen, Davit Babyan said, “We’ll see,” and added that the ceasefire was signed in 1994 and it is necessary to do everything to preserve it.

Referring the current situation, he said it is relatively quiet, and the fire stopped at some places.
