Youth unemployment rate in Armenia was registered in 2009 and 2010 at 48.1% and 40.95% respectively. Today USAID’s Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness project and UNDP organized a round table. The goal was to compare statistical data and discuss market needs jobs development variants to stimulate quality labor market and youth employment. “We hope that active involvement of private sector will spur preparation of qualified professionals”, – USAID’s Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness project director Alexander Babinov said. UNDP deputy permanent representative Dirk Boberg said that their “Professional education and training” project had implemented a number of training initiatives for 715 village youth among others. As a result, participants acquired professional skills. As of January, 300 young people from the program had found job. UNDP Armenia, in partnership with RA Ministry of Labor ad Social Issues and other local stakeholders continues to assist in development of employment policy, prioritizing reduction of unemployment among youth and women, especially in rural areas. Policy proposals and current solutions discussed at the event will be summarized in one document.
After review, it will be introduced to the RA Government and private companies as a legal reforms recommendation for further discussions.
