The staff of the RA Council of Justice circulated a statement which informs that “The Chairman of the RA Criminal Court of Appeal governed by the provisions of Article 152 of the RA Judicial Code has submitted an application to the Council of Justice informing about his resignation from the position of the Chairman of the Court with the intent to serve in a judicial position in the same court.
From the moment the application is received, the position of the chairman of the RA Criminal Court of Appeal is considered vacant (Article 152 (2) of the RA Judicial Code), the Chairman of the RA Court of Cassation announces about the start of nominations for the post.
Based on the fact that pursuant to Article 145 of the RA Judicial Court in the cases stipulated by Article 152 of the Code, judges of the same court, in the procedure stipulated by this Code for the appointment of a universal jurisdiction court chairman, may be appointed as a chairman of an appellate court. Thus the judges of the RA Criminal Court of Appeal may apply for the position to the Council of Justice in the period of two weeks until 8 February.”
