The RA Ministry of Health urges the population not to panic, but to be vigilant and to apply to the doctors in case of the first symptoms of the disease. As a result of the coincidence of the seasonal growth of activation with harsh worsening of weather conditions, as well as growth of contacts between the people on holidays, the Ministry of Health and the Health care system worked in emergency regime. Up to this day the work is carried out in two directions, both preventive and therapeutic. It should be noted that the Ministry managed to raise vigilance among the population, and the evidence for this is the increased number of people applying to the doctors. Obviously the trend of stabilization of the situation and reduce in number of the cases is due to this fact.
Today, such a situation is not only in Armenia but also in neighboring and several European countries. Some of the countries and among them our country has chosen the option of honest approach, presenting the real situation and increasing vigilance and to present the results of a real way. Others hid the real situation, did not tell about the deaths and as a result the patents that applied late for the medical help.
The Ministry does not hide the presence of severe cases. Just yesterday we informed about 81 patients who are treated in the intensive care units, and 14 patients are connected to the medical ventilation devices. All of these patients did not consult a doctor or have a chronic illness. The process of their treatment is in the focus of senior and leading experts of our system. In addition we always urge the journalists to refer only to the official sources when touching the theme in their publications and refrain from spreading the unnecessary atmosphere of panic among the public. Unfortunately, not all journalists and media are behaving this way.
There are cases when some media cannot stand the temptation to publish sensational news, publish articles with horrifying headlines and spread panic among the people. Sometimes even inaccurate misinformation is published. Notably, the 2-year old boy from Sisian who is connected to medical ventilation device in “Surb Astvatsamayr” Medical Center is treated from meningoencephalitis. On the assumption of the fact that the laboratory analysis of H1N1 flu virus (swine flu) is performed among the patients that are treated in the intensive care unit, therefore sampling has been performed from this patient as well. We officially announce that no H1N1 flu virus has been detected with him.
Once again, we call on journalists to refer only to the official sources when touching the theme in their publications and refrain from spreading the unnecessary atmosphere of panic among the public.
Today, 2 death cases were reported. A 60 and 41-year old men in critical condition had applied for treatment a week after the disease emerged. Ten day’s efforts of the medics did not give any result.
