Unemployment has not decreased as compared to the same period of last year. This was shared by Artak Simonyan, deputy chief of “State Employment Department” at the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues. According to the number of citizens registered with the service, “As of April 1, 2012, 78.6 thousand people are registered as job-solicitors,” – says Artak Simonyan, – “the number of unemployed women remains high which constitutes 70,7% of the total number or 46,3 thousand.”
Employers prefer experienced, educated people with interpersonal communication skills. The speaker claims that many vacancies remain unfilled due to lack of qualified candidates and low salaries. Most wanted professions are doctors (in regions), accountants, treasurers, nurses, programmers, etc.
Artak Simonyan stated that a number of government programs are in place to address the job market issues.
“International labor organization experts believe there is progress in our countries especially in terms of projects for complicated job-seeking groups,” – mentions Artak Simonyan. In addition, he said that the World Labor Organization has suggesting organizing an event in Tajikistan, where RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues and the “Employment agency” will share experience. This year the agency turns 20 years old.
